A Sparkly Start to 2022 for Lemonade

So far, 2022 has been busy and exciting for us here at Lemonade. And now as we enjoy the summer break, we can finally take a small breather to highlight and celebrate what we have been doing!

Mid-Year Highlights

We wrapped up a fantastic 2021 with a year-end event at Can Cortada, a historic manor house. It was a wonderful venue for getting together with our colleagues from the Belgian and Barcelona offices. The evening was filled with interesting conversation, delicious Catalan dishes and drinks, and gifts. We loved exchanging our cool gadgets and one lucky colleague even got a ukulele!

With a great year behind us, we entered 2022 filled with optimism and ambition, and the year certainly hasn’t disappointed.

We have been keen to grow our organisation and are delighted to have passed the 50-employee mark with our newest team of data engineers. We moved into a new office in Barcelona to accommodate our fast-growing team in Spain and have been really enjoying the new space.

Our new office has been a great hub for us to get together with our clients as well as our international Lemonade and Sword Group colleagues. Our meeting and ‘Focus’ rooms have been useful for promoting teamwork, co-creation and even Lego building! And on our breaks, we could go out to our beautiful terrace for lunch or we could just look out our windows for an impressive view of La Sagrada Família!

Jacques Mottard, the CEO of the Sword Group, visited us last month to tour the new office and meet the team. We have always enjoyed a strong working relationship, especially after becoming a part of the Sword Group, so we were naturally eager to share our exciting growth phase with Jacques.

Apart from office space, we have also invested in training. Our tech Fridays remain the go-to place for our team members to share their knowledge and skills. So far, we have covered a wide range of topics including technical writing, test containers, git, docker and more. These presentations are usually selected to focus on a specific tool or technology that the rest of the team could use to add value to their work.

We also like to keep up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in technology, so our colleagues attend conferences regularly to keep their knowledge and skills sharp. Earlier this year, our colleagues were delighted to finally attend the JFOKUS, Kubecon and JBCN conferences in person. The conferences were very informative and helped the team deepen their knowledge of existing topics and learn more about new concepts.

Apart from keeping on top of our technical skills, we also focus on training soft skills that will complement our day-to-day work. This year, we organised a six-part public speaking course for our staff to help them feel more confident in front of an audience and enable them to communicate more effectively.

Combined with all of our project work, it certainly feels like a lot has happened. But rest assured, we’re not stopping there. We never stay still here at Lemonade, and that’s just the way we like it!

We’ve got conferences, interesting projects, an exciting team-building event in Mallorca and more recruitment coming up. So, follow us on LinkedIn and Instagram to stay up-to-date with all the exciting things we have planned for the rest of 2022.
